How to Apply
The waiting list is currently closed for all bedroom sizes. When the list is perceived to be less than two years, it will be opened by resolution of the Board of Commissioners for all, or selected bedroom sizes. Public announcement of the opening of the waiting list is done on this website and legal notice in the Roswell Neighbor weekly newspaper. Postings are also made with Roswell based nonprofit, social service organizations.
The application process is in two parts. The first part is a pre-application where no verifying documents are required. Each pre-application is provided a control number. Based on the residency and employment information provided on the pre-application preferences are established. Employment preferences do not apply to units designated for the elderly or persons with disabilities. A random lottery then occurs for placement on the waiting list by bedroom size requirements based on the size and gender of occupants in the household.
As applicants move up the waiting list, a complete application is taken including verification of all circumstances of the household. This includes birth certificates, citizen or legal immigrant status, social security cards, picture identification of all adults, and income and asset verifications. Consent for the release of all third party information are required to be signed. A nationwide credit check and criminal background check is conducted on all adult household members. If all information is verified to the satisfaction of the Authority and all members of the household pass the credit and criminal background check, the household will be offered the next available unit for the required bedroom size. If claimed circumstances are not verified or the household does not pass the credit or criminal background check, the household is notified by mail of the decline of housing the reasons why and informed of the opportunity for an informal hearing to refute issues identified.
